SEI: Hire Female Fund Managers

SEI Investments Company

Call on SEI to hire more women. It's about time.

The industry of portfolio management has abysmal gender diversity. Yet research confirms that "companies in the top quartile for gender or racial and ethnic diversity are more likely to have financial returns above their national industry medians," and that gender diversity is a "competitive differentiator that shifts market share toward more diverse companies over time...that can attract and retain such diverse talent".[1]

SEI recognizes the positive impact of gender equality in its development projects.[2] They claim to believe diversity is a business imperative, [3] but fall below the industry average on even including women in their workplace.

SEI has disclosed their gender pay gap and culture improving initiatives.[4] But they also need to hire more women as the first step, to improve gender equality on principle and for the business advantage. As a shareholder, do you feel comfortable own a fund with so little gender representation? Tell SEI to do better.

Note: This ask speaks to gender diversity, but sex and gender are different. Existing research that this ask relies upon does not yet make the distinction, but equality for all genders should be promoted.
